how about you go to your local college, 'cos mine have a hairdressing salon and a haircut and a blowdry is only like five pounds or just a cut is something like three pound! and they do great haircuts, because they know what cuts suit certain people! :) ps. hope i helped!
great hair cuts arent cheap. unless you kno someone who can give you a discount.
look around the edge of town, but not too far out so its the tatty areas. cos in the 'middle sections' they have some nice, inexpensive places. :)
